Anatomy for Artists

Semester: WS 19/20
Lecturer: Univ.-Lekt. Univ.-Doz. Dr. med. Hans-Christian Bankl

Anatomy is the art of dissection. Dismembering the body into its constituent parts and thus gaining insight into its structure and organization, thus understanding the connections. The course thematized anatomy for artists, not anatomy for doctors. Plastic surface anatomy is the observation of the shape, the proportions and the modelling of the surface. The surface is permanently changed by the structures under the skin, therefore a knowledge of muscles, tendons and bones at rest and in motion is required. This course was also intended to be a “school of seeing” and to encourage looking and recognizing.

This course was not part of the CDS study plan and therefore is one of my elective subjects.
